Job-site text line

Where's My Stuff (wheresmystuffapp.com) is run by CORCOM Inc. It helps construction crews keep track of materials. Each job site of a business customer can have its own text number. Crew members text that number a photo of a material pile with the spot name (for example "BOX A"), or a question such as "seen any 3/4 EMT connectors?". We reply to their message with where the item was last seen, sometimes with the photo, or with a short confirmation.

The call to action

Crew members see the number on the crew poster at their job site. Next to the number, the poster says, word for word:

How a crew member opts in

There is one way to start, plus a keyword to rejoin:

Texting the job site's number first. Our business customer's admin prints the crew poster from the app (More, Crew & invites, Poster) and tapes it on the job-site trailer or Conex door. A crew member who wants to use the text line sends the first message to the number on the poster: a photo with the spot name, a question, or HELP. That first message is their opt-in.
Texting START to the same number, for example to rejoin after STOP.

Whichever they send first, the first text we ever send to that number is this confirmation, as its own message:

After that we only reply to messages the crew member sends. We never text a number that has not texted us first, and we never send marketing.

Texting is optional. Everything the text line does also works in the Where's My Stuff web app, so nobody has to opt in to use the service.

Not an opt-in: the optional mobile number field in the app's sign-up and crew-join forms. It only lets the text line recognize a person's own texts and lets them sign back in; we never text that number first. Crew invites sent from the app go from the foreman's own phone, not from this text line.

The exact messages when a crew member texts a job site's number for the first time, then asks for help, stops and rejoins:
